Tourist attraction site Attraction Tix, has recently browsed through
social media posts to compile a list of travel hotspots most preferred
by visitors taking selfies.
Based on a Google site search of Instagram, the world’s tallest tower
appeared as the third most favourite attraction in the world for taking
selfies, ahead of Big Ben and London Bridge in the UK, Empire State
Building in New York and Colosseum in Rome.
The Eiffel Tower in Paris emerged as the winner with 10,700 posts,
followed by Disney World, Florida with 9,870 hits and Burj Khalifa with
8,860 posts.
A number of landmarks and attractions in the UK, aside from Big Ben
and London Bridge, emerged in the top 40, with the Buckingham Palace,
London Eye and Madame Tussauds also appearing in selfie posts.
Burj Khalifa have been attracting tourists and daredevils, including Russian Alexander Remnew (pictured above), who climbed to the top of the tower and took a selfie with a friend last year.
Attraction Tix has ranked 40 destinations, but provided only the
number of hits for the top 10. Here’s the complete list of global selfie
